National Clean Out Your Refrigerator Day

Did you know there’s a day devoted to cleaning out your refrigerator? As silly as it seems, this observation of fridge cleaning actually comes at just the right time. Your spring cleaning is long over and the fridge could probably use another go to make room for all the Thanksgiving provisions and leftovers that will soon be taking up space.

To help you clear your fridge, we’ve got some ideas for using up your Dream Dinners leftovers that will have your mouth watering more than just reheated last night’s dinner:

Meatloaf Milano with Mashed Potatoes:  A slice of cold meatloaf is great as a sandwich layered on a toasted potato roll with a slice of sharp cheddar and a few bread and butter pickles. Top with crispy onions, such as French’s French Fried Onions to add a little crunch.

Spring Salads

Spring is here and what is better for lunch than a delicious salad? You don’t have to go out to lunch to find one as delicious and original as these. Here are a few suggestions on how to turn a few of our May dinners into a lunch your co-workers will be asking about.

Pacific Rim Glazed Steak with Wonton Crisps
Salad

This recipe would be a great make ahead wonderful Mother’s day steak salad lunch/dinner, cook the steaks and then refrigerate them a day ahead.  On a bed of salad greens, serve the steaks sliced thinly against the grain, and serve the Wonton Crisps on the side of the salad like croutons.

Autumn Pot Roast
French Dip or BBQ Beef Sandwiches

Thinly slice leftover sirloin and pile on a toasted French roll. Serve with au jus or BBQ sauce for dipping, and steak fries.

New Orleans Jambalaya
Gumbo

Mix leftover Jambalaya together with chicken stock to make a delicious gumbo. Add other meats or seafood such as clams, mussels, pieces of fish, diced chicken, and maybe some okra.

Grilled Adobo Pork Roast
Cuban Style Sandwich

Make a Cuban style sandwich by layering thinly sliced pork, Swiss cheese, tomatoes, pickle planks and onion on a French roll spread with mustard. Then weigh down & press the sandwich with a cast iron skillet (or other heavy pan) while grilling in a frying pan.

Garlic & Balsamic-Marinated Steak
Burritos

Make burritos using leftover steak, layered in warm tortillas with Spanish rice, shredded lettuce, grated cheese, black beans and your favorite salsa on top.
