Spring sports are in full swing (think baseball, mowed grass, and lots of time in a lawn chair on the side lines)! What spring sport(s) do your cheer on: baseball, softball, track, tennis, lacrosse, girls’ soccer, golf, swimming, and/or volleyball? Who knew there were so many options? Although wonderful and meaningful, they impact our schedules more than ever.
The novice parent has little foreknowledge of just how much life is going to change when junior joins the team or how challenging it will be to have family dinners together again. Maybe after they graduate!
My children are older now so the change in seasons doesn’t have the impact it once did. Back in the day I struggled to juggle work, family responsibilities and the never ending sports schedule.
The challenge of getting dinner on the table for a busy family causes anxiety and guilt for many. Take-out or restaurant foods usually fill the gap, but with all the media attention on healthy eating and the obesity epidemic it is a troubling solution to the dinner dilemma.
I found my solution by preparing several dinners at one time and freezing them so I could quickly put together a home-cooked meal later in the week. Soon, my friends were asking for help fixing and freezing their meals. Who knew this concept would be the starting point for Dream Dinners?
This month, on March 4th, Tina and I celebrated 12 years of helping families serve nutritious, homemade meals to their families. We are humbled, grateful and amazed: that’s over 95 million servings!
Our dream isn’t over. We know that helping families save time and regularly enjoying delicious restaurant quality meals is just the beginning. We hope to inspire families to spend quality time together at the family table creating a legacy for their children…a loving and nurturing home that invests in each one personally.
Wouldn’t it be great if all our children grew up to become confident, successful, and committed parents who repeat the process of investing in the next generation?
Together, we can make a better world!
Stephanie
