Recently, a 2012 ABC News investigative report brought a beef trimming process back into the public eye. Technically this beef trimming process is called Lean Finely Textured Beef or Boneless Lean Beef Trimmings. This beef trimming process has been dubiously referred to as “Pink Slime”. Other programs like Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution in 2001 have sought to bring this process to light over the years. If you are not familiar, here is the link to the ABC News report and process:
Be assured that our beef provider does not use “pink slime” in our ground beef. Here is the official response from our beef manufacturers:
“Fulton Provision Company and Buckhead Beef produces the Dream Dinners ground chubs’ from 100% fresh USDA chuck trimmings. The only ingredient used is fresh, pure, whole, lean beef. There is never any other ingredient used. We do not use additional fillers or extenders such as Lean Finely Textured Beef (LFBT) or Boneless Lean Beef Trim (BLBT) which has recently been exposed by journalists for television, newspaper and magazines as “Pink Slime”.
We wanted to assure all of our guests that Dream Dinners DOES NOT have any “pink slime” or ammonia additives in our ground beef! The only ingredient used is fresh, pure, whole, lean beef. Providing your family with a healthier, delicious dinner.
